Ava Cavataio, a sophomore at VMS, hasn’t had much free time this spring. She played TWO sports: tennis and golf, having great success at both!
In tennis, Ava played No. 2 singles and finished the regular season 7-0. She went to regionals for No. 2 singles and won individually while VMS also won as
a school. This win qualified Ava for states - her first time going to states since all sports (all spring sports were canceled last year due to COVID-19). At states, she won her first match, moved on to the quarterfinals but lost in the third set.
Additionally, Ava played golf for VMS, something she enjoyed immensely. She was nervous heading to regionals but knew that if she played her normal round of golf she would do well. She shouldn’t have worried as she had a great round of golf, shooting 75 and winning the tournament! She is now preparing for the state golf tournament in Pueblo on June 21 and 22. We are proud of you, Ava! Keep up the hard work!
