House

To strengthen our core value of Building Community, VMS established a K-12 program to increase the camaraderie and connection between students during the 2016-17 academic year. Starting the second week of school, students will be placed in small, K-12 groups, each called a “House.” On House meeting days, students will start the day with their House at 8:15 a.m. Teachers will run activities that build rapport between students and excitement for the day. Over the course of the year, teachers will take a step back and allow older students to design the morning activity. In addition to the regular House meetings, the school will build in House activities throughout the year culminating in Field Day on the final day of the year.

We have been very impressed with our interactions with the faculty, staff and parents. Most importantly, our daughter is thriving. She comes home so happy and enthusiastic about her day. She is making deep friendships with her peers in a way I haven’t seen before. But most importantly she seems so happy and at “home” at VMS. Lower School Parent
