Vail Mountain School offers summer learning opportunities for students in grades K-12 designed to inspire inquiry, spark imagination, and keep young minds engaged during the summer break. Our program is fueled by the same rapport-driven approach that is at the core of both our mission and our community. All courses use Vail Mountain School as a base. Ages: Rising 1st & 2nd graders

Camp Magic Mountain is a day camp where children will explore outside, create with arts and crafts, and review essential language arts and math skills. Children will be active, connect with nature, have time for structured and unstructured play, work on social skills and becoming more independent, and will make new friends. First grade teacher, Kara Robinson, will lead campers each day and provide a fun and engaging environment.
Ages: Rising 2nd - 5th graders

Did it start as a drawing or sculpture? Only the artists will know! Join Ms. Mizwicki for this 4-day camp to create new and exciting artworks by combining 2 and 3-dimensional techniques and materials. Time will be spent indoors and outdoors each day.

Visionbox Studio, Denver’s premier actor training studio, and play development company, announces a new summer theatre training program for Colorado high school students. Visionbox has assembled an extraordinary team of theatre professionals to teach acting, playwriting, movement, dance, voice, and speech, and singing. This new summer theatre intensive will prepare students for ongoing work in high school and college performing arts programs. Each two week intensive will also provide students with an understanding of complex text, confidence in public speaking and the ability to collaborate in an ensemble.
Jennifer McCray Rincon, founding Artistic Director of Visionbox Studio will lead the Vail program and serve as the master acting instructor. Ms. Rincon is a graduate of Yale University and the Yale School of Drama MFA Directing program. She was the Head of Acting at the National Theatre Conservatory, a three year MFA training program, at the Denver Center for Performing Arts from 1991 to 2008.
Prospective students should attend the master class and informational session on Sunday, April 28th from 9am - 12pm at Vail Mountain School.

Join Ms. Mizwicki in creating various masterpieces using wearing and beading techniques. Some art will even be wearable! Time will be spent indoors and outdoors each day.

If you are a Fashion Lab returner, are you ready to join Ms. Mizwicki for a new challenge? If you are new to this workshop, you don’t know what you have been missing! Participants will be challenged with constructing accessories and an outfit using unconventional materials. Time will be spent indoors and outdoors each day. On Thursday, these unique fashions will be presented to friends and family at an end of the week display.

Cost: $295 per session
“Minor” miners will experience Colorado history and science through daily tours of local gold and silver mines. The camps will begin each day with lessons on mining techniques, the chemistry of metals and alloys, geology and ores, and a look back at the history of each mine. Then students will travel to a mine, take a tour, and engage in a mining activity, including panning for gold, at or near each site. Due to the dark and tight spaces that may be encountered during the tours, this camp is not recommended for children who may react negatively to this environment.

Young hikers will explore life at its upper limits on the absolute highest ridges and peaks in Colorado. High-mountain passes, and a 14er accessible by van will be the outdoor lab as participants create a photo journal of the toughest plants and animals in the world. Students will learn about the challenges of surviving in the alpine environment, plan a “hunting list” for the day, and then travel by van to a high ridge or peak where students will identify, classify, and document the amazing plants and animals they encounter through photography. Campers must be good hikers and should feel comfortable above treeline to enroll in this camp.

Does your child have a green thumb? Join Ms. Mizwicki in this 2-day camp where participants will create their own miniature fairy garden/gnome home complete with structures and actual living plants. Their creations will be theirs to keep! We will get our hands in the dirt while creating, learning about nature, and using our imaginations! Time will be spent indoors and outdoors each day.
Ages: Rising 7th - 12th graders
