Harvard Leadership Institute

The Harvard Leadership Institute is a one week course during Intraterm led by Middle School Division Director, Mr. ErkenBrack, and a group of Harvard Alumni and students. It is open to students in grades 8-12 selected through an application process and is offered during the upper school Intraterm.

Youth Lead the Change (YLC) is designed for students who are motivated to better understand themselves by working with top college leadership trainers from the Leadership Institute at Harvard College (LIHC). Students who are already active leaders as well as those looking to become a more confident and conscious student are great candidates to participate in YLC. Ideal students for the program are inquisitive, committed, and willing to take risks in discussion and projects-- and have fun engaging.

This program gives students the opportunity to develop practical leadership skills. Throughout the program, students learn public speaking, collaboration, and time management as they work in teams to address an issue they care about, from bullying to global warming.

Students receive individualized coaching, both during and after the program, from highly accomplished Harvard students who mentor the students and help them launch their projects.
