Mid-Winter Harvest

December 9, 2014- While most local gardens were put to bed months ago, the plants inside our year-round greenhouse are thriving and it’s harvest time. Yesterday, Kindergarten students dug up radishes that they planted in September and enjoyed the root vegetables with a Tzatziki dip made with dill from the greenhouse. Also on the menu this week is popcorn with greenhouse-grown herbed butter for middle school students, salad made from lettuce grown by the first grade, and breakfast burritos that include cilantro from our herb garden. Other crops in progress include chard, cucumbers, kale, carrots, oregano, sage, broccoli, and lima beans.
