February 4, 2104- Each year, students in grades five through eight take overnight trips to nearby 10th Mountain Division huts. Upper school students also partake in this VMS tradition and had their hut trip in the middle of January. Accompanied by Ms. Sideli and Mr. Sappenfield, the group trekked 4.7 miles to Jackal Hut, gaining 2500 feet of elevation along the way. The trip started in blustery, blizzard like conditions that gave way to perfect bluebird skies the following day. Grades nine through 12 were represented and highlights included an incredible full moon, building a snow fort (yes, they’re still kids!), and time as a community playing games and bonding.
