1st Grade Mad Scientist Day

School News

March 4, 2104- First graders recently explored the wonderful world of chemistry, playing mad scientists and cooking up kid-friendly concoctions. With the help of parent volunteers, students learned about simple chemical reactions and how they can be used to make slime, Oobleck, a fizzy lemon drink, and beautiful currents of color. Oobleck, perhaps the most unique of the compounds, is a polymer that is both solid and liquid, states that are typically mutually exclusive. Despite the title, these ‘mad’ scientists were in fact quite happy with their results as evidenced by the smiles and laughter that filled the dining hall.
