HERE is a list of important dates for the 2022 - 2023 school year. The full 2022 - 2023 calendar will be available in July 2022.

FamilyID is used by Middle and Upper School families to register for sports. Any Middle or Upper School student participating in a sport must upload an Athletics Physical through FamilyID. This form must be completed by a doctor. If you registered an athlete during a previous year using FamilyID, all you have to do is log into your account, upload a new physical, and register for your sports. If your child is new to VMS athletics, you will need to create an account once your child has completed his/her sports physical. Go to FamilyID and select the program for which you wish to register to create an account.

The VMS parent association, Parent Parters, facilitates VMS families to connect socially and partner with the school in support of our children. For new parents, Parent Partners' most important role is helping them become connected to and involved with our community through the Welcome Family Program. Parent Partners also manages the Homebase Parent Program that pairs each class with a team of parents who help teachers coordinate communications, class projects, and trips.

Annual Report

Once a year, in the fall, an annual report is published and reports on the previous fiscal year’s events and activities and provides a financial summary. This publication also includes highlighted events that happened throughout the school year.

Directory

A hard copy of the directory is sent home with students in September. An online version is also available on the VMS website and in PCR. The directory contains lots of useful information such as contact information for students, parents, staff, and Homebase Parents.

Homebase Parents Sunday Emails 

This email comes from Homebase Parents and includes information specific to your child’s grade. Another great source of information! Don’t miss this Sunday email - it will help you get ready for the upcoming week!

Printed Calendar

Put it on your wall and you will refer to it daily! The VMS printed calendar is mailed to all parents in August. The calendar includes all the major important dates for the year. Make sure to check out the sponsor ads and support them!

A great resource to find all sorts of information but especially helpful for back to school specifics including summer reading lists, information on travel opportunities, medical forms and more. VMS Weekly

A weekly Friday emailed newsletter, full of important dates and information.  Make it a habit to read this publication weekly to avoid missing events and deadlines!

The 2022 - 2023 VMS Handbook

Vail Mountain School offers daily after school care for Lower School children from 3:15-5:30 pm, including a snack. Licensed by the State of Colorado as childcare facility, the goal is to provide well-planned supervision at a reasonable charge to accommodate the demanding schedules of our families. Students play outside, complete homework, learn new games, and engage their imaginations through creative activities. Run by VMS teachers and staff, it is not uncommon for middle and upper school friends to drop in and play. For more information contact Jeanne Macsata or afterschoolcare@vms.edu.

Volunteer Opportunities at VMS

Gala & Auction
A tradition dating back decades, the Gala is the school’s largest fundraising event and volunteer effort of the year. Though the majority of the work takes place from September-November, there are also numerous opportunities throughout the year to contribute both time and talent. Specific needs include leadership and planning, auction item acquisition, data management, volunteer coordination, decor design, food and beverage management, and working during the event.

Parent Ambassadors and Event Hosts
Proud parents play a critical role in helping both our internal and external communities learn more about VMS. Share your enthusiasm for the school by hosting a neighborhood open house for prospective families, welcome fellow VMS parents into your home, or join us on social media by lending your voice as a community influencer.  

Homebase Parents
At the heart of each grade is a team of parents who help teachers coordinate grade-level activities. Parent volunteers serve the entirety of the year and help support communications, class projects, trips, and other classroom needs.

Book Fair & Holiday Market
For one week in December, the Common is filled with books for all ages and holiday crafts created by members of our community. Working in partnership with the Bookworm, parent volunteers set up, take down and staff the event.

Casino and Bingo Nights
Funded with proceeds from the Garage Sale, these signature Parent Partners events bring our community together and provide an opportunity for parent volunteers to share their love of gaming.

Athletics Booster Club
New this year the Booster Club is starting the VMS Parent Athletic Ambassadors program. Parent Athletic Ambassadors help get information out on sports more regularly. We need help from about 2 parents per team to send us photos and updates on results on a weekly basis so we can get the info out to the community. If you are interested or have more questions please feel free to reach out to Mr. Ecker at becker@vms.edu.

Teacher Appreciation Breakfasts
Parent Partners volunteers come together to provide a feast for teachers twice each year as thanks for all they do in and out of the classroom. Homemade treats like casseroles and muffins are complemented by store-bought staples like bagels and juice, all of which are contributed by parents from all grades.
