Parent Partners
A Community of Parents
More than 60 years ago, Vail Mountain School was founded by a group of parents who came together to create a school in a growing mountain town—a place where learning and community could thrive side by side. That founding spirit continues today. Parent support and volunteerism remain at the heart of VMS, and families are welcomed as active partners in their children’s educational journey.
Parent Partners, the VMS Parent Association, fosters a sense of belonging and connection across the school. In alignment with the VMS mission, Parent Partners creates opportunities for families to engage in school life through volunteer efforts, social gatherings, and shared celebrations.
From ski days and coffee mornings to hikes and class events, there are countless ways for families to connect and build friendships that extend well beyond their child’s grade. Each family contributes to the strength and spirit of Vail Mountain School, and new families are warmly welcomed into that tradition.

Volunteer Opportunities
Gala & Auction
Our largest fundraiser of the year is more than a gala—it’s an evening to remember. With a fresh theme each year, this festive night brings together parents, faculty, and friends for fine dining, dancing, and spirited bidding—all to benefit our students.
Volunteer Roles: Event planning, item procurement, decor, data management, volunteer coordination, and day-of support.
Homebase Parents
At the center of every grade is a team of Homebase Parents who support teachers, organize gatherings, and help new families feel welcomed and connected.
Volunteer Roles: Each spring, we invite parents to sign up for the following year.
Book Fair & Holiday Market
Each December, our Common is transformed into a cozy marketplace filled with books and gifts from local artisans. A portion of all sales benefits VMS.
Volunteer Roles: Help set up, staff the event, or participate as a vendor. The joy of helping students choose their next favorite book is always a highlight!
Homecoming Events
Bring the VMS spirit to life by helping plan and support Homecoming festivities for students and families alike.
Volunteer Roles: Help organize, decorate, and run activities throughout the events.
BINGO Night
A VMS favorite! Join the fun as our community gathers for a lively night of BINGO, pizza, and dancing in the lunchroom.
Volunteer Roles: Event setup and clean-up, pizza coordination, music/tech support, and prize management.
Teacher Appreciation
We love to celebrate our incredible teachers all year long, with creative monthly gestures and larger events in the fall, spring, and during Teacher Appreciation Week.
Volunteer Roles: Frequent opportunities include organizing, baking, setting up, or leading a monthly celebration.
