Ten Bold Initiatives for a Decade
Our strategic plan grew from a truly community-wide effort. It began in summer 2023 with marketing and enrollment research, followed by input from the Board of Trustees, a Steering Committee, and a community survey in the fall. Over the winter and spring, the Design Team and Steering Committee refined the plan, incorporating feedback from faculty, staff, and leadership.
By fall 2024, with insight and collaboration from every part of our community, we launched a strategic plan that reflects our shared vision for the future.
Below is an overview of the plan, featuring ten bold initiatives to guide Vail Mountain School until 2034.
Innovate & Enhance
Emerge as a Leading Experiential Learning Destination | Build on our foundation of academic excellence, ethical leadership, and environmental stewardship in order to become the leading K-12 experiential learning destination in the Intermountain West.
Elevate Academic Excellence | Ensure our academic program, school-wide learning environment, and teacher professional development opportunities are all aligned in order to maximize individual student growth.
Aspire to a National and Global Reach | Develop a mission-focused strategy to attract families from across the nation and around the globe to Vail Mountain School for an education that uniquely combines challenging academics, experiential learning, and unparalleled access to the mountains.
Impact & Amplify
Amplify Community Impact | Enhance our existing programs and develop new ones that benefit both the wider community and our students by maximizing our location and strengthening opportunities for civic engagement and service.
Enhance Transportation Systems | Align internal and regional transportation solutions to remove geographical access barriers, increase the diversities represented within our school community, and model environmental stewardship.
Broaden Local Reach | Explore opportunities and additional locations to expand the age levels served by a Vail Mountain School education, reflecting the needs of our diverse local community.
