Interational students may be hosted by local families that are selected through an in-depth screening program. Homestays ensure that visiting students receive the love, inclusion and attention outside of school that children need to thrive. Such settings also support immersion in English, which is the best way to learn a language other than one’s own. Host families are chosen based on their ability to provide a safe and supportive homestay and a willingness to completely integrate the students as a member of their family. Host parents must provide meals, transportation and a private bedroom for guest students.

Domestic or foreign families who are interested in living and learning in Vail are encouraged to contact the admissions office to explore options. VMS is able to issue F1 student visas for international students and has experience working with families to make a Vail Mountain School education possible for those who live outside Vail.
