SummerQuest®
SummerQuest® is an outreach program hosted by Vail Mountain School for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students throughout Eagle County who have been identified as being talented but in need of remediation. In many instances, English is the second language of the students, who have been recommended by their teachers to participate in the program. Vail Mountain School students and alumni/ae tutor and mentor the students and facilitate esteem building activities.

The SummerQuest® Holiday Plant Sale brings vibrant, healthy poinsettias, Frasier Fir trees, and other holiday plants to the homes of SummerQuest® supporters. VMS parent and student volunteers organize the ordering in October and November, and they deliver the plants in early December, just in time for festive holiday decorating. As the largest fundraiser for SummerQuest®, the Holiday Plant Sale indeed demonstrates how “each bloom that brings joy in the winter will help a child blossom in the summer.” For more information regarding plant ordering, please click here or e-mail summerquest@vms.edu.

Students Shoulder to Shoulder

Vail Mountain School initiated Students Shoulder to Shoulder (SStS) service programs during the summer of 2007. During that inaugural season, trip leaders teamed with non-government organizations to lead VMS students in service learning projects in New Orleans, Nepal, and India. The settings and intensities varied, yet all of the trips successfully met the goals of the program‘s mission to "inspire high school students to engage in responsible global citizenship through online study, extended service work, and public presentation."
