The primary purpose of Vail Mountain School's admission process is to enroll students who demonstrate social, emotional and intellectual characteristics that can best be nurtured in our setting. Candidates are selected according to their academic achievement and potential, compatibility with the school's program, and enthusiasm for the responsibilities that are shared by all students and families. Because of the unique community nature of the school—with value placed on cross-age interactions, cooperative learning, and character development—the admission process requires the participation of the candidate, the candidate's family, and the school to reach an understanding of mutual expectations. The relationship between the school's values and those of its families is a key ingredient to success within our program.
The best way to get to know a school is to spend some time on its campus. If you would like to schedule a tour, have any questions or would like to receive an admission packet, please contact our Director of Admission, Jeremy Thelen, at (970) 477-7164 or
admissions@vms.edu.
It is the goal of the admission office to give each family the individual attention in the admission process that every student that attends VMS receives from the caring and dedicated faculty.
